From the farming villages of Gujarat to community life in Bradford, this is the story of our samaj.
The Leuva Patidar Samaj of Yorkshire exists to keep our community close, our heritage alive and our families supported. What began as gatherings between a handful of households has grown into an organisation that serves people at every stage of life.
Our roots
The villages of Gujarat
The Leuva Patidar community traces its heritage to the Surat, Navsari & Valsad districts of Gujarat, a people known for farming, enterprise and a deep sense of family and faith.
Coming to Britain
A new home in Yorkshire
Through the twentieth century, families settled across Yorkshire and made Bradford their home, bringing their language, faith and traditions with them.
Building the samaj
A community organised
Families came together to form the samaj so that festivals could be celebrated, elders supported, young people guided and those in need helped.
Today
Serving every generation
Today the samaj is a registered charity supporting members across Bradford and Yorkshire through cultural, religious, educational and welfare work.
